C. Stead, of Cartwright, Man, Mr, Stead is the author of a volume of poems entitled, The Empire Builders. Weare almost ashamed to say that we hed not seen this book un- til Monday evening, But 6 -open it- meant for us holding it until the last verse was read. This book belongs peculiarly to the west, and it is worthy of it. Mr. Stead has lived most of his days on the prairie and it tias cast its charm over him : To thove who have seen it and smelled it, Po those who hs To those who have known it and felt it The Prairie is ever their own ; And-far though they wander, un- wary, : Far, far from the breath of the plain, A thougis .of the wind on the prairie, Will set their blood rushing again. As its title indicates the book throughout is afire with patriotic feryour and strongly imperialistic.
