: Religion by Edith McDowell * Cloudy rainy weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of catholics and fellow Christians as the new Christ the King hall was officially ,sblessed on Sunday, September 12. . They also celebrated the 13th anniversary of the present church which was given the name Christ the King replacing the name of St. George. Very Reverend Patrick Cramer, Vicar General of the calgary Dio- icese, presided at the blessing and jassisted Reverend Dominic Nguyen, pastor, in cutting the rib- jbon. Reverend Joseph Toole, High River, represented the priests of the Crowsnest Pass deanery, and Rev- Serend Walter Krewski, Oyen, and Reverend Joseph Vu, Calgary, also tattended. Fr. Krewski was an assis- stant pastor in Claresholm when the parish was still called St. George. Local ministers attending include the Reverends Norman Radway, United Church, Barrett Scheske, Lutheran, Ed Kostyk, Anglican and Gloria Ireland, hospitals chaplain. + The afternoon began with an open house of the hall, when people were invited to open every door, view the spacious well-lit kitchen, Obituary : VERA A. PERROTT Of Nanton, AB passed away at the High River Hospital on Septem- per 17, 1993 at the age of 82 years. She is survived by a son Jim (Barbara) Perrott of High River; three daughters; Margaret (Bert) Caveny of Strathmore; Dorothy Gullion of High River; and Elaine ohn) Comeau of Warburg, AB; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchil- dren; as well as two sisters Mabel Moore of Red Deer and Ethel Scott df Vulcan. * She was predeceased by her hus- band Ronald in 1988. *Memorial Services were held at the Nanton-Parkland United Church, Nanton on Monday, September 20, 1993 at 1;00 p.m. Vgith the Reverend Bob Manly offi- tating. Cremation took place at the Parklawn Crematorium. Honorary Pallbearers were Mark Caveny, Terry Caveny, Beau Gullion, Kevin Perrott, Shane Comeau and Brian Ransom. Bob Hubka followed with the papal flag. CWL members followed Fleurette Olsen, who carried their banner. Bill Gelowitz carried the Knights of Columbus banner after which other Knights followed. Remaining members and guests joined in the procession. He thanked the Knights of Columbus for their financial sup- port and told of the bequeaths from the estates of Marilyn Schumaker and Gerald Garvin. These three sources gave the parish the suffi- cient percentage of money neces- sary to begin the replacement of the hall. Although there is a 10-year goal of paying the remaining debt, he said it would be wonderful if the parish could burn the mortgage in three years as happened when build- ing the church and rectory, Joan McDonald gave the 30-year history of Christ the King Church. Greetings were given on behalf of the CWL by president Sharon Malec. Grand Knight Norm Canuel thanked the community for support- ing the bingos which have been held for more than 10 years. The Youth Group, under the direction of Joanne Chartrand, sang the theme song of the pilgrimage to the World Youth Day in Denver, Colorado, We Are the Children of the World . Rob Fallman accompa- nied the group. Joanne, Mary Ann Quinlan, and Chelaine Anderson of Claresholm attended this interna- tional event last August.
