Olds Races are Most Successful. Splendid. Weather: aad. an Excelle ent SHIRE STALLION Day's Sport. 4-Mark Harold a f (ao69r) Favored with ideal weather condi- tions the Olds Raee Meeting held on the Agricultural grounds on Thutsday was a complete success. The fields were not as large as anticipated, but the deficiency was made up by the quality of the various competitors. , Phe track, owing to the heavy shower of the previous day, was-a little soft in plac s and accounts for the time - insome of the events . being rather slow. Never before was there Seen on Olds track so.many really high class horses. One of horses, Tom Keene, that took part in the free-for- all trot or pace. has a mark of 2:04, - but unfortunately, the fine race horse was not- seen to advantoge having b en slightly injured in the accident which occurred when the car was be- ing shunted onto the QOlds siding. , Garnish, the winner of the four quart- ers of the novelty,'is a horse of* ex- ceptional quality. The races were brought on without any ofthe provok- ing waits that tires the patience of spectators and everything was con- ducted in a satisfactory manner. The starter, Mr. W. Wilson, of Innisfail, discharged the tryir.g functions of his office in a manner that deserves special commendation, the starts. in every instance giving entire satisfac- tion. Messrs. McAbee of Calgary, Ferris' of Red Deer, and R Dalgleish acted efficiently. 1s judges... The dance in the evening was well , patronized bringing.to a close a most enjoyable day s entertainment. There were numerous visitors from: Calgary, Red Deer, Innisfail, Bowden, Dids- bury and Carstairs. The results of the different events we-e as follows: Free-fer-all, ast, George W; gt; 2nd, Sapphire; 3rd, Tom Keen. There were two heats, the placing the same in both heats. - 2.17 Trot or Pace resulted in a race - of three heats, Clearwater ultimately winning, Bertie K being plaged sec- ond and Boundry Boy third. Kitty Low alsoram. The event furnished one of the best races of the day. Tim ,.2:314, 2:31 , 2:32. 2:35 Trot or Pace, won by Web- ster; s cond and third money being divided between Joe Wilkes and Star- faced the starter. BREED THE BEST.
