This collection represents the reference collection housed in the University of Calgary Herbarium. The herbarium’s entire collection consists of approximately 95,000 vascular specimens (land plants with tissues that conduct water and minerals) and another 12,000 non-vascular (plants like mosses, algae, and fungi). This collection represents a single specimen from every species in Alberta, excepting the rare plant specimens that are housed in a separate collection.
