Shear Zone - Myanmar
This image was captured in central Myanmar and depicts a medium grade metamorphosed schist. The schist is shown to contain shear bands running from the top left to bottom right of the image. Shear bands form during non-coaxial shearing and represent shear zones that extend the layer they are deforming.
