Samples of intrusive igneous rocks
These are samples of intrusive, phaneritic, holocrystalline igneous rocks which increase in abundance of mafic minerals subsequently from A to C. Sample A is a granite dominated by felsic minerals, such as alkali and plagioclase feldspars and quartz, while still containing some mafic minerals, like biotite and amphibole. Sample B has a higher mode of mafic minerals with some plagioclase feldspar, while sample C is dominated by mafic minerals and only has specs of plagioclase and quartz.
